CHARLOTTESVILLE/ALBEMARLE ADULT DRUG TREATMENT COURT
The Drug Treatment Court provides drug treatment and intensive supervision to non-violent drug offenders through the Circuit Courts of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. It is designed to enhance both public safety and public health by focusing on the treatment needs of local, non-violent adults charged with drug related offenses and who are drug addicted.
The Drug Treatment Court includes ongoing testing for drug and alcohol use, intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, frequent status hearings with the Drug Court Judge, immediate sanctions (including jail time) for program violations, and incentives for successful participation. Participants are required to either be employed full-time, enrolled in school, and/or perform community service. Persons must be drug and alcohol free for a minimum of 12 months in order to graduate from the program. Those who are terminated from the program, for any reason, return to court to face their original drug charges, or reenter probation supervision. Successful graduates may have their charges dropped or reduced depending on their charges. |
