Established in 1971, OAR-Jefferson Area Community Corrections is a regional community corrections agency located in Central Virginia. The Agency provides pretrial services, local probation services, Charlottesville-Albemarle adult recovery court, Fluvanna adult recovery court, Nelson County recovery court, Orange-Madison recovery court, Charlottesville- Albemarle therapeutic docket, reentry services and criminal justice planning services. The jurisdictional catchment area includes Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson and Orange County.
OAR is dedicated to providing safe, evidence based and cost effective alternatives to incarceration for Central Virginia. As a private non-profit organization, OAR receives funding from federal grants, state grants, and all nine local governments that we serve, private foundations and local donations.

OUR GOALS
To provide safe, evidence-based and cost-effective alternatives to incarceration for Central Virginia.
To offer pretrial investigation/supervision, community corrections, specialty courts and dockets service for individuals referred by the local courts in lieu of incarceration.
To provide a network of transitional and reentry services targeted to recently released individuals to reduce the barriers to successful reintegration into the community.
To provide peer support and collaboration to build bridges to success.
To advocate for criminal justice reform and educate the public about the challenges and opportunities of reentry.
To work together for a safer community one person at a time.
