About

Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) is dedicated to providing safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective alternatives to incarceration for Central Virginia. We believe in second chances and helping individuals lead successful lives.

We provide pretrial investigation/supervision, community correction, speciality Courts and dockets, and reentry services.  As a private nonprofit organization, we apply for and receive funding from federal, state and local governments, private foundations and local donations.

We are pleased to receive funding from all 9 localities that we serve (Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson and Orange).

Evidence-based practices

OAR JACC endorses and implements the use of evidence-based practices throughout our service delivery and programming. This is an ever-changing implementation process as more research and best practices develop.

Decades of research have proven that recidivism can be predicted and reduced through the implementation and fidelity of the following model.

  • Assess for risk of recidivism

  • Enhance intrinsic motivation to change

  • Apply cognitive behavior interventions at the right time, to the right person, for the right duration

  • Provide positive support and reinforcement

  • Ensure quality and fidelity

  • Measure outcomes and results

OAR JACC historically and currently participates in numerous EBP implementation projects and evaluations.
