Agenda: 8-July-2026 Meeting Agenda

The Planner produces research and analysis that supports criminal-justice professionals, advances best practices, and drives data-informed decision-making. We develop and curate reports at the local, state and national levels — highlighting crime trends, incarceration metrics and targeted topics that support community safety.

Community Criminal Justice Board (CCJB)

The CCJB’s mission is to enable participating localities to work together to develop community-based pretrial court services and post-conviction alternatives to incarceration for misdemeanants and certain nonviolent felons. The Board meets quarterly to discuss trends in crime and incarceration and to consider proven alternatives that enhance long-term public safety.

Participating localities: Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson and Orange.

Evidence-Based Decision Making (EBDM) Team

Beginning in 2010, Charlottesville and Albemarle County were selected by the National Institute of Corrections as one of seven national pilot sites for implementing an evidence-based decision-making framework to coordinate the work of all criminal-justice agencies. The Planner convenes the EBDM Team bi-monthly, provides an analysis of local criminal-justice data, and coordinates a number of project teams.
